This beautiful calcite crystal has that gorgeous, rich sheen of marble to it. Calcite eventually goes through metamorphosis if it sticks around long enough, turning it into marble over time. That's why both types of mineral can have that kind of pearlescent lustre that makes them feel so luxurious. This is why the ancient Greeks and Romans preferred it as a sculpting material for statues. It is both easy to work and has a beautiful sheen.

This calcite crystal is a British mineral specimen taken from Dumfries and Galloway, just off the Southern Uplands Way. It has been with us for a long time as it was in a forgotten tub of calcite pieces. We likely picked it up in 21/22... But it has been around a lot longer than that.

As a healing crystals calcite is a rebuilder. We grind it down to make plasters and pastels to mend other natural stone substances. You do not need to grind it down for crystal healing.
